Make More Square in a Square Patchwork Units

What You’ll Need

  • the (48) 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ D1 squares
  • the (96) 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ E1 squares
  • the (96) 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ A2 squares
  • draw a diagonal line on the reverse of each small square, from one corner to the opposite corner. Use a light pencil or make a temporary crease if easier on the dark squares.

Use the D1 squares as your centers to create (48) square in a square units that measure 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″. Sew using the same technique explained a few pages back. Use the image below as a guide to small square placement.

Remember to sew that extra seam to make lots of tiny half square triangle units from trimmed corners. They aren’t needed for the mystery quilt but could be used to make a small coordinated wallhanging or pillow covers.
